I am a fan of Vermeer's paintings and especially his use of light and shade. Here I have taken a modern twist taking inspiration from a photo I found on Photo.net, and painted this in Painter (demo- was testing the software).

I was doing this at around the same time as the 'African' head modelled in Silo. The original image was painted at high resolution, down scaled for the internet. Below is a crop from the full resolution.
