I am a fan of Vermeer's paintings and especially his use of light and shade. Here I have taken a modern twist taking inspiration from a photo I found on line, and painted this in Painter.

I was doing this at around the same time as the 'African' head modelled in Silo (button 2). The original image was painted at high resolution, down scaled for the internet. Below is a crop from the full resolution.
